Amazonite is a natural stone.

Amazonite is an opaque aqua color green feldspar getting its name from the Amazon River.

Amazonite ranges in color from light green to greenish blue to deep blue.

Amazonite is found in the United States, Russia, Canada, Brazil, India, Mozambique, Namibia, Austria, and Norway.

Proper Care

Amazonite is sensitive to chemicals, abrasives, heat, acids, and ammonia. Do Not use a steamer, hot water or ultrasonic cleaners.  Use a soft cloth with mild soap and room temperature tap water to carefully preserve the natural luster of the gemstone.

Healing Properties

Amazonite heals and opens both the heart and throat. The stone dissipates negative energy and blockages within the nervous system. A major property is the protection it affords from the health hazards of microwaves and other sources of electromagnetic energy.

Scientific Notes

Amazonite is composed of potassium aluminum silicate. Its color is related to lead impurities, and the stone may have cloudy white streaks or patches. Amazonite's color may sometimes cause it to be confused with Turquoise or Jade. Its Moh's hardness rating of 6 to 61/2 makes it suitable for beads and a focal stone in quality jewelry.

Amber (pronounced am-bur) is a fossilized tree sap (resin) usually heat treated to bring out the color.

Amber is a golden yellow to red in color.

Amber is found Great Britain, Poland, Italy, Romania, Germany, Myanmar and Dominica.

Proper Care

Amber is very sensitive and must be cared for in a delicate and gentle manner. It may be easily scratched and is sensitive to chemicals, abrasives, acids, alcohol and perfume. It is also flammable and can be ignited with a direct flame. Do Not use steamers, hot water or ultrasonic cleaners as they will damage this gem. Clean amber with mild soap, room temperature tap water and a soft cloth.

Healing Properties

Amber is a powerful cleanser and healer. It imbues the body with vitality and has the power to draw out disease. It absorbs pain and negative energy out of the body allowing the body to heal itself. Amber relieves stress. It is said to also treat throat, goiters and other throat problems as well as stomach, spleen, kidneys, bladder, liver and gallbladder ailments. 

Scientific Notes

Amber is fossilized tree sap resin. Its colors range from light yellow to brown or red. It is nearly colorless, or may be mostly white, blue black or shades of green. It has a Moh's rating of 2-2 1/2, indicating a stone more easily scratched on the Moh's scale of 1-10.

Amethyst (pronounced am-eh-thist) is a natural stone. Amethyst crystals grow inside of agate geodes.

Amethyst is a medium to deep purple color and even lavender with excellent clarity.

Amethyst is found in United States, Great Britain, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Russia, Sri Lanka, Uruguay, East Africa, Siberia and India.

Proper Care

This stone is fairly hard and durable and may be cleaned using a steamer or ultrasonic cleaner.

Healing Properties

Amethyst boosts production of hormones and tunes the endocrine system and metabolism. It strengthens the cleansing and eliminating organs and immune system. An excellent cleanser for the blood. Amethyst relieves physical, emotional and psychological pain and stress. The stone reduces bruising, and swelling, and treats hearing disorders.

Scientific Notes

Amethyst is Crystalline Quartz. Manganese and Iron cause it's color to be purple, violet or red-violet in color. The Moh's rating is 7, making this a fairly hard stone well-suited for use in jewelry.

 

Aquamarine                                                                Aquamarine

Aquamarine is a natural stone that is sometimes heat treated to enhance its color.

Aquamarine is a blue green color that is clear to opaque.

Aquamarine is found in United States, Mexico, Russia, Brazil, India, Ireland, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Proper Care

Although aquamarine is a hard 7-1/2 to 8 on the Moh's scale, natural inclusions could make it vulnerable to breaking if exposed to extreme temperature changes or sharp blows. Do not use heat to clean aquamarine. Prolonged exposure to sunlight may fade the color.

Healing Properties

Aquamarine is a stone of courage. It has calming energies that reduce stress. Aquamarine also protects against pollutants. Psychologically, Aquamarine has an affinity with sensitivity and invokes tolerance of others. Aquamarine calms the mind, clarifies perception, sharpens the intellect and clears up confusion.

Scientific Notes

Aquamarine contains Cyclosilicate and Beryl.  The color may be light blue, blue, blue-green, pale green and transparent to translucent. It may be heat-treated to remove green and enhance blue. It has a Moh's rating of 7-1/2 to 8. Although a fairly hard stone, it may break if exposed to extreme temperatures or sharp blows, as noted above in Proper Care.

Autumn Jasper is a natural stone.

Autumn Jasper has a mix of warm reds and greens and browns that remind you of autumn. This is a beautiful stone.

Autumn Jasper is found in France, Germany, North Africa, Sicily, Venezuela and the USA.

Healing Properties

Jasper, like agate, is a powerful healing stone. It helps us move beyond just surviving to making us glad to be alive.

Proper Care

Clean with a soft dry cloth to preserve the natural polish of the stone.

Scientific Notes

Autumn Jasper is composed of Silicate, Chalcedony and Quartz. It has  Moh's rating of 6-1/2 to 7 and is often used in fine quality jewelry.

Aventurine is a natural stone.

Aventurine comes in green, blue, red, brown, peach.

Aventurine is found in Italy, Brazil, China, India, Russia, Tibet and Nepal.

Healing Properties

Aventurine is a very positive stone of prosperity. Aventurine benefits the thymus gland, connective tissue, and nervous system. Wearing Aventurine absorbs electromagnetic energy and protects against environmental pollution. Psychologically, Aventurine reinforces leadership qualities and decisiveness. It promotes compassion and empathy and encourages perseverance.

Proper Care

Aventurine will fade with continued exposure to the sun's high temperatures. Clean with mild soap and lukewarm water and allow to air dry.

Scientific Notes

Aventurine is composed of Tektosilicates, and quartz (silica group). It has a Moh's hardness of 7 and is a favorite stone used in fine quality jewelry.
