Black Onyx

Onyx is found in United States, Italy, Mexico, Russia, Brazil and South Africa.
Onyx is most commonly dyed black but is dyed in other colors like green and can be seen in its natural blends of opaque and translucent colors of earth tones.

Onyx is a tyupe of microcrystalline quartz, formed in gas pockets of lava. Onyx is multi-layered. A black base and white top layer is referred to as Onyx. Sard-onyx has a brown base and Carnelian-onyx has a red base. A stone with a uniform black appearance is Black Onyx. Typically black onyx is chemically treated gray chalcedony that produces a very rich black stone. Black Onyx has a Moh's rating oif 6.5 to 7, making it a durable stone and a favorite for use in fine quality jewelry.

Proper Care
Blood Stone Jasper is treated for a high polish finish and should not be exposed to water. Protect it from scratches and sharp blows. Do not expose to any type of chemical. Wipe clean with a soft cloth.
