Happy Spring--Celebrate Small Business Week!
Spring came early here in south central Pennsylvania this year. The daffodil bloom above was the second of two that were rescued from the unseasonable weather. The first bud was left on the ground after a hungry deer took a mouthful from the middle of a clump of daffodils. The daffodil above survived being forced on the ground by a heavy, wet snow. The stem was bent and I carefully brought it inside and placed it in this tiny glass cup on the kitchen window sill where it enjoyed the morning sun and brightened the room for nearly a week. The cluster of dainty star flowers graced the ground in our bird bath garden.
And yes, this is Small Business Week, a week of national recognition by presidential proclamation that has happened each year since 1963. Did you know that nearly half of all Americans either own or work in a small business?
